This had to have been put up by the neighbor of the Phelan Flyers who knew the club was there but decided to move in anyway, and is now trying to get them shut down. The club has been there for a couple decades.

I'm not a member there, but live nearby, and have flown there. We're lucky to have a good number of clubs in the Ottawa area.

WOW! This guy has certainly put in a tremendous effort and done his research.

Many of us have said that the "new" MAAC trend to policing model airplanes and the draconian rules that have been drawn up to shut down flying sites that are not in favour with certain people would backfire as many sanctioned MAAC flying sites cannot stand the tests that were applied to shut down the Bronte field in Oakville.

Now, here is someone using MAAC's own rules against the organization and he's damn good at it.

We lost a flying site about 15 minutes away from this one for similar issues. Although we weren't breaking any noise by-laws because we were over 500 meters away from the closest house, they got us on a loophole in use of land rules. Was not within city limits, though. This club is under different jurisdiction, which is better for them.

It's sad when stuff like this happens. It is clear that the relationship between the neighbors and the club isn't good, communication is likely to also be extremely poor.

I've messaged our zone director. That site was registered yesterday, apparently. They probably aren't aware of it yet.

Not quite, Who Is shows it was registered on December 28th and updated May 15th. Youtube videos are up to a month old, Twitter set up in May as well.

What a nut job. Trying to convince people that humour is truth. Shows you cannot joke about anything these days as someone will be offended or use it against you. Time to erase all references to liquor as he is inferring this is going on. Which it isn't, not at MAAC clubs right? Certainly not at ours.

Regarding one of the videos...yes the club member was invited to leave and should have immediately. What are these club members thinking?

Re: his noisy videos. Seems to have amplified the baby monitor. Anyway at our club it might be noisy for a few flights in a day. Certainly the motorbikes were noisier at my semi-rural home.

He has some nasty tactics like using a many years old story of a death in a UK public park as an example.

Three clubs I have flown at in Saskatchewan and I've never seen any alcohol at any of them, ever. Come to think of it, I've never even seen anyone smoke a cig.
