I find that Canada post shipping is over priced for what we get and now I see that in January they are going to have a 3.5% increase.

Re: Canada Post shipping

Don't care for the rural or small town higher rates that guys have to face when the large centers get the breaks. Did a cost match last year with a peson in a small town area in Manitoba and he paid 2-3 dollars more than the exact same shipment to Halifax city ; with twice the distance .
Same thing with metro Toronto ; pays less than just outside Toronto limits. The usual excuse is that it costs more to run a delivery truck in rural areas...... guess what ? That truck has to travel those routes full or empty . So then instead of running parcel
deliveries every day; run Mondays, Wed. and Fridays. Too many overeducated management running the show with no real common sense . See it all the time.
Only positive thing is it is still the cheapest of CP , FedEx, and UPS and yes service is good as Derek says.

Re: Canada Post shipping

I also think we pay plenty for shipping in Canada. But without any competition Canada Post can do what ever it wants. Just like Air Canada did with the bonuses paid to the top guys. I bet if we new the corruption that goes on from leaders in this country we would have lots to complain about.

We should all be more concerned about the Carbon Tax which will be the biggest cash cow when its fully implemented. Only steel and aluminum from a blue bin gets recycled, the rest goes to land fill. If we took all the trucks that collect it off the roads we could exceed our Carbon reduction foot print without a new tax. Recycling is the largest scam ever implemented in this country, just like the tire tax and environmental fees on certain products. Cheers Floyd

Re: Canada Post shipping

Ya , just like when AC used over 950 million from employees pension plan to put Canadian Airlines out of business and then a few years later paid out bonus’s plus big dividends to share holders instead of replenishing the pension fund . Then cried to the courts , that the company had no money for the pension plan .

Then there was that Lavelin fiasco when two high level cabinet ministers “resigned” over what was happening re kickbacks and wouldn’t Back down. Goes on and on .

So much for leading by example. Laws were made up for the public to follow, everyone else is exempt. Cheers Floyd

So true. But I couldn't resist the temptation. LOL
It costs me $15.00 to ship in Ontario and $30.00 to BC. But I can ship to California for $20.00.
