Turbine servicing

So, my last flight of the year in 2019 with my reaction, I noticed my Behotec J55HP was making a squeal I hadn’t heard before.

After landing the jet went away for the winter.

When I swapped it out yesterday for the Wren, I discovered the compressor wheel had been damaged. Two of the blades/fins had damage to the tips. I’m sure after 10 years I finally picked up a small stone. Unfortunately I did not have a FOD screen mounted.

So where is the place to get engines repaired these days? I’m assuming I need a new compressor wheel, Bearings and a balancing, and hopefully nothing else.

The turbine wheel looks fine.

I was considering doing it myself. But I’d need to source a compressor wheel.

Re: Turbine servicing

Did you contact Peter Ayache at Altacare RC? He originally sold and serviced the engines.

First person I tried. Left a phone message and an email. Nothing yet, but it’s been less than a day.

I’d rather not send it overseas if possible.

Dean, I sent my engine to Andy recently, after speaking to him on the phone. He seems very nice. I am hoping he can replace them wheel and bearings at the same time. I shook the two small pieces of aluminum that broke off the fins out of the engine. It still spins well and obviously ran the last flight I flew with it. Hope it gets fixed up and I can’t use it in another project. Thanks for the contact information.
