Re: FlyFly 90mm Hunter in swiss colours build

Today we added a landing light on the Hunter. It had one single retractable lamp under the center section of the wing. Strange location from a practical standpoint considering the nose gear is in front of the beam. Regardless we mounted ours very close to that location embedded in the cheater intake. It will be lit at all times. The bulb is a 6v LED flashlight bulb and is powered directly from the RX power (spliced off the retract servo lead). Our BEC is selectable between 5-6v so it was easy to get full brightness running 6v.

We are putting on nose gear doors as the “finishing touch” using a Lander gear sequencer, a micro servo, a spring and some fishing line.

Re: FlyFly 90mm Hunter in swiss colours build

Hello,
Sad news today as I crashed our Hunter and destroyed the canopy (canopy hit first).
The plane is rebuildable however the canopy is a part I need to complete the repairs.
Anyone have a leftover or spare canopy they wish to sell?
Thanks Eric

Re: FlyFly 90mm Hunter in swiss colours build

Bummer Eric! I don't suppose a Flyfly F-86 canopy could be made to fit (with the back portion removed obviously)? I have one of those...

Re: FlyFly 90mm Hunter in swiss colours build

Thanks Tom,
That may be a possibility. Pretty sure we have one of those as well. I am hopeful Hobby88 will get back to me after the weekend.
Cheers Eric

Re: FlyFly 90mm Hunter in swiss colours build

Good news,
Hobby88 did respond to my request and sold me a replacement. They promised to send within 3 days.
The other repairs are structurally done, just cosmetic work now. Foam breaks were pretty clean. Dollar store 5 minute epoxy to the rescue! Having the old crashed canopy parts should help finish the new one with less work than the original build.

Re: FlyFly 90mm Hunter in swiss colours build

My father Chris has been working overtime with bringing the Hunter back to “like new” condition! Lots of filling sanding and painting.
