Spektrum ix12 and AR7200bx help needed

Switched over to the Spektrum ix12. So im setting up my helis to it.
No problem with the 230S...just downloaded the settings from horizon.
So started on my Gaui X4ll. It uses the AR7200bx. For the life of me...I can not get the swash to do what I want. Does anyone have any experience using the AR7200bx with the ix12?

Runs fine on my DX8.

Re: Spektrum ix12 and AR7200bx help needed

Hi:

I have one setup and found I didn't need to do anything with the radio but had to choose the type in the 7200. I set the swash type to 90 degree Normal in the TX. It's been a while but there are no hidden special setups you need to do. Get the BeastX manual or the AR7200 and it shouldn't take you much longer than 20 minutes to get a basic setup done. I know it can also be hooked up via a USB cable, which I have but have never used it once to do multiple setups. The last one I did was three years ago. Good luck, you'll get it.

Re: Spektrum ix12 and AR7200bx help needed

My swash type is 120 though. Which is what I used in the transmitter....also in the Ar7200bx setup.

So I tried what you said...used 90 in both the tx and controller...same thing. Not doing at all what its suppose to do.

Ill skip the Gaui I guess....and try it in my next heli….fusion 50.

Re: Spektrum ix12 and AR7200bx help needed

Hi, I don’t have an iX12, so there could be something peculiar to the iX12 heli programming that causes the problem. However, I have several AR 7200BX, and here is the general procedure for setting up the swashplate:

1. Select Normal (90 degree one servo) in the radio.
2. When you get to setup point H in the Rx, select 120 deg swashplate (red solid)
3. Move to the next point (point I) and select the combination (purple, red or blue light) that will make the swashplate go up and down level when you move the collective stick (direction not important)
4. Then, move the collective, elevator, and aileron sticks. If any input is moving the swashplate in the wrong direction, go back to the radio, and reverse the appropriate channel, i.e., pitch/aux 1 for collective, elevator, or aileron.

If this doesn't work, try switching the channels that your left and right servos are connected to, then redo set up steps G and I.

Re: Spektrum ix12 and AR7200bx help needed

That's why I suggested to get the manual. Without it, it will be hard to muddle through the menu to select each item to setup. Unless otherwise told, you never set the swash in the transmitter to anything other than a single servo, 90 degree. In the gyro is where the geometry of the swash is set. Once you get the manual, life will be much easier and it is a free download. Make sure you have the right version for your AR7200BX as others might be similar but there may be subtle changes depending on the firmware. Take care.

I do have the manual. Ive setup the ar7200bx on three helis using my dx8. I dont every recall using 90 1 servo. Perhaps im wrong and just didnt realize it.
Ill give it another try tomorrow afternoon.

Re: Spektrum ix12 and AR7200bx help needed

I just verified that mine is set to "Normal" in the swash setup menu. In one of the gyro menus as noted above, you will have the option to choose the geometry to match your helicopter. Mine is installed in a Logo 5003D and works just fine. Have fun flying it once done.

Don is right, if you set the swash up as 120 degree it messes it up, the ar7200bx does the swash management and your radio needs to provide the normal or standard controls. If you look in the monitor screen after setup, you should see aileron, elevator and swash move on their own channels. When you set the transmitter to have a swash of 120, it does the swash management which confuses the ar7200bx since it is doing it...
