Pica 1/5 scale Waco

Hi everyone my son just picked up a 1/5 scale pica waco from a friend of ours. He plans on electrifying it with a eflite 90. The plane is some what built but needs some TLC. The fuse and upper wing look fine but the lower wing we are trying to figure out the trailing edge towards the center of the wing the upper and lower sheeting aren't glued at the end and instead there is a gap. My son is unsure what to do as he doesn't have the best skills out there to fix it. Any help would be great. I will get pictures of the area later today.

Re: Pica 1/5 scale Waco

I am thinking there is supposed to be wood blocks glued to the trailing edge sheeting and sanded to fit the wing saddle. Lay the bottom wing on the wing saddle and you should see what I mean. Just a guess on my part.

Re: Pica 1/5 scale Waco

I have a new un-started kit. I will see if I can get to it and pull the plans out to see what they show.

I do plan on trying to find a pica waco kit here for sale at the end of February as a backup.

Re: Pica 1/5 scale Waco

I have been flying that scale and have another kit hidden away for retirement build with float attach.

Can try and open the kit to look at the plans or pull the other from the trailer to take pics of the lower wing area, but from memory there is reinforcement there for the wing attach bolts, as well as a bit of balsa to match the lower fuse contour. What I cannot remember is what is supposed to fill that gap in the trailing edge. Been a while and quite a few craft since then.

Re: Pica 1/5 scale Waco

My dad started working his magic on the plane. Did some measurements and studied the plans. Have rebuilt TE and ailerons to what they were supposed to be. Looking much better now. Will keep in touch on the build,
