MAAC now closing club fields

So, my buddy who flies at BRCM in Burlington told me their MAAC ZD sent out an order that he's closed their field that has operated for over 25 years because he says it's unsafe.

Says the ZD didn't consult with the club, just decided he was closing their field. WTF is that?

Also says interestingly, the ZD is best buds with the Safety Chairman who was kicked out of the aforementioned club for being an a$$ hole and subsequently sued the club. Then his lawsuit was thrown out of court because the judge recognized that the Safety Chairman was an a$$ hole and was just attempting to use the court to continue his harassment the club.

So now the safety chairman and his ZD buddy have shut the field down under a veil of safety.

Can MAAC really do that to your club? We all better watch out!!!!

Cheers

Hollywood

I would hope there is some kind of appeal system available.

Yes, the appeal system is to appeal to the ZD who closed it! Seriously, how stupid is that??

Re: MAAC now closing club fields

Why not close the field then open it up under a new name and apply to MAAC again. It sounds like a bit of a hassle but it should work. Cheers Floyd

You can change your personal zone so maybe the club can change its zone?

Re: MAAC now closing club fields

Hollywood Bob needs to 1) choose his friends more carefully 2) get the true story before spreading misinformation from his buddy MB. 3) stop attacking MAAC volunteers on an open forum such as RCC, and 4) be reminded that the Bronte Park does not meet Transport Canada regulations and therefore MAAC regulations regarding overfly zones. Plus BRCM has another great field that at present does meet safety requirements.
If any body is truly interested an inspection report by the ZD and the Safety committee is available from MAAC.
So my advice is investigate thoroughly before mouthing off and calling people names.

Really, than neither does Stoney Creek as it overflies an active rd. on approach. Neither does your own Giant scale rally at Stoney Creek airport as it overflies a roadway. Don't see them being shut down and guess what, they happen to fall under the same ZD. Not to mention KG piling in a 40lbs airplane 10ft away from a tent shelter, not very safe but, a foamy goes in at Bronte and it's shut down.
