70mm EDF 3900kv motor
Need alittle direction here. I have a Dr. madd thrust 70mm unit with a 3900kv motor turning a 12 blade fan made to run on 4 cell lipo. Great running unit unit I stuffed a 5 cell lipo in it and in the first few minutes let the magic smoke out.
Here’s my question. I can’t seem to find a replacement motor anywhere. Doesn’t have to be the same make just a motor that fits the bill. Any one that can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate Dave. This is the dead one |

Re: 70mm EDF 3900kv motor
Best to buy a wattmeter first. I imagine 3900kv would be a hot setup on 4S.
If you want or need to run a higher cell count look for lower kv motor.

Re: 70mm EDF 3900kv motor
Thanks for your reply. This unit on a 4 cell HV battery really motivated my star max F86. Grabbed a 5 cell and smoked the motor by accident. But did have a great puff of smoke as it died on a low pass. I just want a replacement motor of some kind to put the unit back together. So much out there I don’t know what to buy. Looking for suggestions and recommendations

Re: 70mm EDF 3900kv motor
Check out Aliexpress or Banggood. Search 70mm EDF 4S.
Lots of choices for parts and complete units cheap. https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale...xt=70mm+4S+EDF https://www.banggood.com/search/70mm....html?from=nav If you prefer a 5S unit, I might have one that should work. It has run 6S but I think 5S would be perfect.
