Very nice. All these little details bring the model to life.

It does. I would like to get the fabric a bit duller than what it is now. Still don't know how to do that for a nice result.

Re: Hangar 9 Tiger Moth Detailing

Hi!

I've been working on modifications on the pilot. I replaced the stuffed chest by a 3d printed structure with ball joints for the arms. I saved about 40 grams and now it uses 4 magnets instead of screws to be installed in the plane. The purpose of that modification was to make a set of legs and be displayed outside the plane. I can just snap the legs on or off using magnets as well. I had to fix the paint of the right hand so it's missing on the picture.

I tried vacuum forming for the first time. Quite fun and easy. I 3d printed the strut covers and after a bit of sanding I vacuum formed them.

Finally I made what is the wing spar cover under the fuel tank with the fuel bypass pipe. Just need to be painted.

Re: Hangar 9 Tiger Moth Detailing

The remaiden has been done. Just a couple flight in. Already a broken prop. Ugh... those nose over...

I just finished to paint the pitot tube and anti slip thread. It's the only things missing on the picures.

The last picture is a before and after modifications.

First, congrats on the successful maiden flight.

Dulling a gloss paint finish to semi-gloss or less, in my recollection, can be done with wet-n-dry paper of a fine grit (I would try #1000 and "experiment a bit" on a less obvious part, such as the underside of a stab.

As a matter of fact, I also recall, that faced with the choice of getting gloss/semi-gloss/matt paint and wanting maximum flexibility, opting for gloss was the preferred choice as it was easier to work a gloss finish down to less of sheen than go the other way (although a clear overcoat generally imparts some gloss).

At least that is my recollection.
