Yeah Ramz's 170 made her come alive, 200 would be insane. I miss those Margree hi speed passes lol. 140 still be nice flying jet.

It is. What have guys been having issues with? The glass to aluminum joint is the only portion I couldn't get apart to check.

Thanks,

Colin

Well, that's a wrap. This was a pleasure to assemble. The only thing I added was a tail skid per another RCCers recommendation. Pics of the finished electronics tray and skid. Maiden tomorrow.

They end up leaking, the original from Intairco doesn’t leak because the glass is hold into the aluminum ends with an o’ rings...and the glass is also user replaceable.

I'll continue to monitor the UAT. I may put a thick bead of fuel tank sealant around the joints after hearing this. Thanks for the heads up.

I put several flights on it yesterday. This thing flies like a pattern plane! I can't think of any reason against this being a first jet. My only regret is not putting a 180 or 200 size turbine in it lol.

Does anyone with a flash mind posting photos of their wing around the mounting holes? I've noticed mine now has small depressions. I'm hoping this is just the foam core of the skin taking a set and is normal.

Thanks,

Colin

Re: CARF Ultra Flash EVO

It looks like you may have tightened the wing bolts a tad too much!! They do take a "set", but yours looks like the built up area around the fuse thread got pulled into the wing.

Based on the feedback from CARF reps/distributors the depressions in my wing are normal. There are a few other places that look similar along the fuse/wing mating surface. It hasn't changed in the last 30 some odd flights.

Here's a video from the weekend. The more I fly this thing the more I like it! A larger turbine may be in it's future.

Re: CARF Ultra Flash EVO

Glad to see you enjoying your Ultra Flash Colin!!

I have seen many people fly them and some are content with 100N for power. My first one had a 140 Cheetah, and it was fine........this coming from an old pylon guy.LOL!! One trick if you want to really see it go is to hold full throttle for a few laps around the field. They tend to wind up for the speed!

I have since gone to KT 160's in both of my Ultra Flashes, and they are a nice combo. The fastest I saw was a JetsMunt 200 in a couple different frames with a bypass and they were rockets! One of the guys has since decided that a 160 is a more sensible approach.

If it were myself, and I wanted a LOT of power, I would look at the newer KT180G4 as it is the same size can as the current 160 and the 140/160G2.

One thing for sure..........it is an awesome airframe!
