We are a recreational group who fly radio controlled aircraft at a field south of Hwy 26 behind the Edenvale Airport. We offer a free training program to students. Due to a decline in our active members we are doing a membership drive. We have a 130'X500' grass runway, plus pits, shelter and portable toilet. We even have a sectioned off corner for Heli's and drones and anything else that can be flown. No jets or turbines unless electric. Contact Info below. Cheers

Re: Edenvale RC Aircraft Club

Getting new members is scarce in most clubs.

I find we are a rare breed, lucky to get one new member a year. and after one crash you don't see them again.
At one club I fly at we take turns buying hot dogs on Wendsdays so there's always a good turn out.

Frank, no fun being the only one at the field.

Re: Edenvale RC Aircraft Club

Nice to see some innovative ideas on encouraging more participation by members and family.....one of the clubs I belong to has 45 members plus 10 junior members and we have a hard time getting folks out to participate in events the club has.....we were thinking of a Wednesday evening BBQ once or twice a month (club pays for dogs/burgers/pop) for all members who come out and fly.

Like most clubs we find it troubling that our average member age is 65+, with many of the elder statesmen no longer flying

Re: Edenvale RC Aircraft Club

I visited the Edenvale club a few times, and was welcomed warmly each time (there was some one there). A very nice facility. Hope the membership drive is successful for you, it's a real challenge these days.

Re: Edenvale RC Aircraft Club

I've driven past there a few times (visiting folk in Stayner) and always wondered about the club. Hope to stop by some day when not trying to get somewhere against a deadline.

Wish you success with your drive.

Re: Edenvale RC Aircraft Club

Best of luck with the members drive, tougher in the smaller cities. At the Burlington club, we get about 40 new members a year but, we lose about 40 old members a year so, we sit at about 195-200 on average.
