Skyward 60 ARF, Model 873

I have a NIB Skyward 60 ARF, model number 873 and it looks to be a tail dragger rather than the standard tricycle landing gear version shown on the box art. There is an 873 model sticker is on top of the model 872 that is printed on the box lid, so perhaps they sold these ARFs in two versions. Anyone know for certain?

I am considering mounting an RCGF 15cc gasser in this one.

Re: Skyward 60 ARF, Model 873

Steve
I just built a Skyward 120 with tricycle gear config over the winter and the fellow I bought the kit from had both tricycle and tail dragger versions of the plane for sale. I suspect the Skyward 60 you have is the same. There’s a thread on the 120 on RCC and the guys with taildraggers say the only difference is the more forward position of the main gear plus tail wheel hardware. Btw, the 120 has beam mounts for the engine, does yours? Standoffs for the engine you have in mind may take a bit of modification. Assuming the 60 and 120 are very similar, feel free to get in touch if you have any build questions. Cheers

Re: Skyward 60 ARF, Model 873

My kit is definitely a tail dragger as the accessories package has two main wheels and a tiny tail wheel. I located the hardwood blocks where the wire landing gear plugs into the fuselage, and it is under the wing leading edge. There is also a tail wheel assembly inside the fuselage with the main gear.

The 60 ARF also has the hardwood beam mounts and I will have to cut those out to fit the RCGF 15 as it uses the four standoffs. Some mods will be needed for sure.

I just finished a Skyward 25, converter to a taildragger. Took a little work to cut out the motor mounts and fit in an esc and 2200, 3s. Flys great will use as a club trainer.

I have this ARF as well, but was planning to drop in a Magnum .30 four stroke. Any pics of your conversion? Where did you place the lipo pack?

Re: Skyward 60 ARF, Model 873

Here are the photos of the Skyward 25. The esc is under the battery box. I also use esc's that are used on drones and an external bec. This type of installation is much lighter and they work great.

Is that a 3D printed battery box? Looks good.
