Battery Connector Compatibility

Ok, so I am not sure if this has been posted before, but...... I have 1 battery with an EC3 connector, and do not have an adapter for my charger. I have so far been using the 12v car charger that came with it when I use it. However, tonight I had discovered that an EC3 connector will plug directly into an XT60 charge lead....

Re: Battery Connector Compatibility

It only works one way. A female EC3 will connect to a male XT60 with a bit of wiggling, but not the opposite.

I haven't checked, but EC5s may also work in XT90s the same way.

Correct, it is only a one way affair. As for the EC5 and XT90, I cannot neither confirm nor deny as I do not have those.

Re: Battery Connector Compatibility

Yes the xt90 will fit the ec5/ic5 battery connector because it is wide open on the charge lead side

Re: Battery Connector Compatibility

Why not just use the proper connectors to start with. Miss matching connectors can only lead to problems down the road. Only connectors I know of that can be switched are the EC and the IC ones, EC3 will work with IC3, EC5 with IC5

Hmmm good to know, but you can get an adapter for just about any combination of connectors on Amazon. But I sure you already know that.

Re: Battery Connector Compatibility

When I made the switch to electric powered airplanes, I use nothing but Anderson Power pole connectors. It's an investment and no worries about mismatching connectors.

Powerwerx are a great supplier for these connectors. https://powerwerx.com/anderson-power...-sb-connectors

Yep, forgot to order one with my charger, but have since ordered one and just waiting for it to arrive on the slow boat...... But this will be a good alternative for the meantime.

I remember a big ole octopus of connectors that was available from hobby king a while ago. Had about every connector ever made on it. Or, but some with some wire and make up a few adapters and a bunch of charge cords! Murphy’s law states You never have that right one in your field box when you need it!
