Its going to be a stressful next few weeks. With a wife in the healthcare system I get a lot of info first hand and everyone is on high alert thats for sure.
Take care and good luck to you and the family.

Re: TOLEDO CANCELLED

Now the MAAC AGM has been cancelled too:

The MAAC Leadership team, has been monitoring the progression of the current COVID-19 outbreak and decided that, in an abundance of caution, the MAAC 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) currently planned for Sunday April 26th will be postponed.

The MAAC Executive is working with Roger Bélanger, of the Cornwall Aero Modellers Club and Geoff Strotmann, Zone Director for the Ottawa Valley Zone G, to develop viable options for an alternate plan for the 2020 AGM. These options will be voted on by the MAAC Board of Directors and the membership informed of the decision.

This situation is without precedent and on behalf of the MAAC Board of Directors, I thank you for your understanding and patience, while we decide on a 2020 AGM backup plan.

Stay healthy everyone.
Wishing your family, especially your child, good health.

Re: TOLEDO CANCELLED

I have planned, and already paid to attend this year's Joe Nall. With a start date a little more than seven weeks away, I wonder how that will turn out? On the bright side, even without a compelling reason (like Covid-19), Nall organizers will accept event cancellations and issue refunds, as late as two weeks before the event. I sincerely hope that it doesn't come to that.

Peter

Re: TOLEDO CANCELLED

Yeah.

Juliette Kayyem, a former high official in Homeland Security, this afternoon tweeted: "two words...… Shut it down"
a blunt way to saying that a lot of institutions in North America are today starting to do serious mitigation as in social distancing as a way of slowing down the spread/flattening the curve of infections so medical needs don't swamp medical capacity.

(Ontario schools just got closed for a further two weeks after March break, until April 5th.)

She has a chart on her twitter account, outlining the five stages of crisis management re coronavirus, where she adds to this stage the summary characterization "brace for impact" and a Homeland slogan: a crisis hits a nation as it is, not how we want it to be.

At least our hobby is characterized by lonely hours of building/setting up models and flight lines at the field are several meters apart...… and I can't ever recall being in elbow jostling busy local hobby store.

Probably there goes swap meets for a while, unless they allow only a few dozen people in at a time for 30-40 minute slots.
