Ya know what it might be for as well? The previous owner may have put a line from the vent to the carb so there would not be any oil on the model?

ya, thought of that, recycle the by pass oil then blast it out through the exhaust! All good thoughts from this thread ....Thanks all for reading!

I found once the LS air bleed was fixed a lot of the oil previously seen out the breather and exhaust was eliminated.
