Re: LiFe on ignition

Hi Jason:

Do you plan to run both ignition and airborne system from the same batt pack? I'm certainly no (gas) expert, but I always believed that it's more prudent to keep the two systems powered separately. Others here, please join in because I have a similar situation...a 1/4 scale Decathlon powered by a DLE 35RE. It has very few flights on it, but I've used two separate batt packs. If using only one is OK, I can drop the extra weight. Advice appreciated.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack the original thread.

Re: LiFe on ignition

I was planning on running one battery but off two separate switches. I wasn't planning on running the ignition off the receiver bus, but it's own circuit off the LiFe battery. Like you I don't want to take unnecessary risks.

Re: LiFe on ignition

roger a power safe wont withstand a shorted a123.an ignition draws at most 500 milliamp. the zenoah 20 drew about 700mah. in a 30 size airframe with digital servos everything working good id expect an hr from a 2300 mah a123 3 to 4 flights. have used them extensively in a 50 cc plane massive rudder servo and its a 3 flight day about 1800 back in. nothing wrong with two harness off one set id be checking voltage after second flight. at six volts they are very close to dead.
