Thank you Max. This was about how the two most wonderful people in the world welcome flyers every year with open arms to enjoy modeling for over 40 years at this wonder site. And to have their site invaded along with this thread is shameful.

Re: stolen planes from albertas littlest airport

I had my oxy heli "stolen" by a couple who used counterfeit canadian money in dec last year. Long story but the police got my heli back the next day in parts with lots of damage from the way they stripped it down for parts. In the summer the probation services asked me if I'd accept a letter of apology from the thieves which I refused. I said if they would repay the approx $260 it cost me for 4 new servos and other damaged parts I would be ok with them getting community service and probation.
In their wisdom they decided not to repay me and hence the case goes to the law courts here in Edmonton on Friday 3 Dec. I have been subpoenaed as a witness for the prosecution and they are both charged with possession under $5000.
I've never been court before so not really looking forward to it.

Re: stolen planes from albertas littlest airport

Back in the 80s I was brought in as a witness for Transport Canada against a shop that was pencil whipping vehicle safeties. Ended up shutting down because of it.

Along with having to close my business to attend, the son of the shop owner worked for one of my suppliers. THAT was uncomfortable.......

However, felt it was the right thing to do.

Re: stolen planes from albertas littlest airport

Even though I favor a bit of local "justice" I must temper my comments with a cautionary tale.

One of our close neighbours got a call from her husband that someone had just come into the field and taken off with his pickup truck. She called the cops and gave chase. Apparently the thieves got uncomfortable with how close she was to them, pulled a hand gun and started firing at her. She panicked, lost control on the gravel and hit the ditch writing off her vehicle and sustained some injuries.

You just never know what you might be up against!

Re: stolen planes from albertas littlest airport

As someone that has worked within the environment of inmates for many years ( part time ) I can assure you that everything they manage to steal from you and wreck in the process is seen as being a favor to you on the grounds that you will screw over your insurance company in the process thus making you the winner. The reality of your hobby equipment is that it is a tempting theft AND you likely have zero insurance for the value of these toys. You only have one legal defense in Canada, let them do whatever they want or you will pay for it forever. And if you manage to find insurance for your hobby related gear and something does happen remember the job of the adjuster is to deny as much of your claim as possible.
