Poor Quality Control

Here is an example of some pretty crappy quality control. Stihl oil in pre-measured100ml bottles. The picture attached shows a line/mark I drew at the oil level in each of 4 UNOPENED Sthil bottles.(shone a light behind bottles) The bottle in the middle is Redline oil I measured out at 125ml, using a very accurate measuring container. Would appear none of the Sthil unopened bottles are 100ml. Two are close, but the other two!!!!!!!!
I was under the belief these would be filled using accurate computer controlled filling equipment, but I was totally wrong about that obviously.

Re: Poor Quality Control

Good to know, thanks. I use the same oil for my lawn equipment but I measure mine down for a liter at a time. I have a couple new six packs and I'll check mine at a later date and reply. It could've been a bad batch but I'll check mine.
Cheers Floyd

Re: Poor Quality Control

Yes I think something must have just gotten messed up with this batch. But does show that checking before using would be a good idea.

Re: Poor Quality Control

From my early boating/bike/kart days I have always bought oil in bulk sizes and measured each time. It seems prudent to measure those single use ones as well. I always wondered about the accuracy of those little plastic pouches for a single gallon. Good heads up.

Re: Poor Quality Control

So you are talking 1 to 3 % guess that will screw up your engine? Not

Re: Poor Quality Control

Pep. Did I say anything about this ruining an engine. NO. As the thread title say, just pointing out the lack of good quality control.

Re: Poor Quality Control

Bottle #2 looks very low and bottle #5 looks high. So Im guessing they knew they had shorted you, and then made up for it on your 5th purchase. All good now

Re: Poor Quality Control

The lesson I learned here is to bring a flashlight to the hardware store when I go to buy 2 stroke oil!!

Yes i hear you, but that is like picking the hair from the hair. Just buy a gallon of it or a quart and measure your own. I know that in production there is marginal errors and they are well within them.
Guess it is like the Pepsi bottles, empty from the neck up.LOL

Re: Poor Quality Control

Lets put this into prospective. Believe it or not there are people in this world who spend 1, 2,3 or more thousands US funds for a two stroke motor. There are people in this world who will only buy there gas for there airplane motors at one ethanol free gas bar. And there are people how buy aviation fuel to avoid ethanol. And we all know someone that after a few drinks you cannot talk about sex, politics, religion or 2/stroke oil. My neighbor uses the, its the right color method for his $50.00 weed wackier. To each there own. Bell Helmets had an advertising years ago that always makes me laugh. If you have a $50.00 brain buy a $50.00 helmet and if you have a $250.00 brain buy a $250.00 helmet. My neighbor buys his fuel premixes now from a 110V supplier.
