Super Bandit - REDUX

So - the Super Bandit I bought in 2008 (I think it was 2008 ) from Jeremy Ferguson is now I think somewhere between 15 and 17 yrs old!
It had many years on the shelf but also 4-5 seasons of flying. I figured it was time for a re-build as everything in it was very dated. I also wanted to drop the weight. Not that it ever flew badly, quite the opposite, but at 25.5 lbs... that's a pretty heavy Bandit.
Old setup was older JR 8411/8611 etc - the BVM recommended servos. On 6v setup with Futaba, single Rx, dual batteries and an EVOJET 130 turbine (which is great but big and heavy.)
For the new setup I went with a XICOY X120 (which is a full 1.5 lbs lighter!), Savox low-profile HV servos (except on ailerons as I needed a full size servo due to how they mount), no regulator 7.4v, Dual Jeti RX's, Powerbox Pioneer+iGyro sat, upgraded the retracts to electric (run from the Pioneer), kept the brakes and doors on air with a small tank and JetTronic valves, full telemetry - ECU, GPS, Powerbox and Jeti fuel flow sensor.
I 3D printed the radio tray, fuel and air tray and a mount for the air trap. All up it is way more maintainable (though still very, very, very tight for space.)
And yes the turbine needs to move back maybe .5 to .75 in. Although the perspective in the picture makes it look much further away from the pipe than it is. Will have to play with this as the bypass is made for a 110mm turbine and this is only 90mm. Ground test there was no heat issue and tons of thrust.
New weight with the front tank totally full is 23.5 lbs! So that's a significant weight loss in a small jet. Plus a lot more redundancy and telemetry to make it hopefully a bit safer.
Maiden will be soon. Bit of a clean and polish and it sure doesn't look like a 17 yr old jet any more!

Re: Super Bandit - REDUX
Nicely done. What a great idea with the 3D print.
Great looking jet.
