Shoddy wiring

Found this cobbled up 'Y' connection in a 1/4 scale airplane wing.
I'm all for people learning how to solder but really, you need to practice on something else!
And, 28AWG servo wire is for indoor planes, this had 24" runs out to the aileron servos.

Re: Shoddy wiring

Not sure if It beats what I had to deal with a couple of years ago . How about twisted wires and then C/A glued to keep from unraveling. Then cheap black electrical tape was used for separation leaving a gooey mess after a bit .

Re: Shoddy wiring

Wow, even when I learned how to solder, I think I was maybe 10, made a small electronics project for a science fair. Solder was a little heavy on the joints and I fried one transistor with too much heat, but didn't look as bad as that.

Agreed, practice with some scraps first. I don't know how to weld either, but got some scrap metal to play with so I can learn.

Re: Shoddy wiring

this thread kinda fits in with the other one currently about the number of aircraft MAAC wants to know about.. and the question was raised about

Airworthy !!

I for one would not call that airworthy..

But I have seen much worse than that..

Maybe that guy worked for Boeing a few years back ,, hmm say around the time of the 787-max...

just wondering

Re: Shoddy wiring

Man, that would have been just aboot the worst example used in any of the classes I took on the subject.

And yes, I have seen some bad ones over the years.
