I have the plans of the Scat Cat, that could be scratched built. It has a sheeted foam wing, with a balsa sheet fuselage and tail. A very easy build and doesn't cost a lot of coin.
If you needed foam cores, I could cut you a set. |

A q500 with a 25, even a Jett is going to be pretty docile. Look at matney models and get a quarter midget. They have a couple. The class used 15's back in the day. A Jett 25 on one would be awesome.
