Sweet Stik Low Wing Gear

I have a Sweet Stik in the low wing version for a beater plane . The main land gear was mounted in the wing just behind the c of g.
If I change to a tail dragger, the main aluminum gear would have to be just in front of
the wings lead edge. Is this too far forward ?

Re: Sweet Stik Low Wing Gear

As for your landing gear, build another wing and put your gear as close to the leading edge it will be fine. You will have a lot of pressure on your tail wheel but it will take off. Good luck Dave. Let us know how you make out. Phil

Dave
The rule of thumb for landing gear on a tail-dragger is to have the axle lined up with the leading edge of the wing
Too far back and the plane will nose over a lot. Too far forward and it will porpoise on landing.
Sorry about the rock....... Murphy's Law....... and Murphy is a jerk.

Re: Sweet Stik Low Wing Gear

Such a sweet flying aircraft too! I ran a Picco .40 on mine. Apart from rocks, also be careful of showing off to your brother by looping it right after takeoff, which it would happily do, but not when the engine quits at about the 11:00 position on the up-line. Pancakes anyone?
