Well, I made some significant visual progress on the weekend! The wings and ailerons are now completely covered and the ailerons have been attached to the wing. The servos are in and all thatís left is to attach the control rods and horns. There is one small piece of trim to go on each side of the fuselage extension below the wing to match up with the trim on the fuselage, but otherwise the wings are complete.

For me, this was the most complex wing I've ever covered. It turned out that the ailerons took almost as much time as the wing itself by the time all the trim lines were matched up. I may still add a decal to that large expanse of orange... maybe a couple of red maple leafs for the subtle, patriotic look

The only thing I might have done a bit differently would have been to make the servo recess in the wing a little smaller and tighter to the servo. Fortunately, no one will see them anyway.

Re: IMAC DR-107 One Design Build

I know, I knowÖ itís been over 7 months since Iíve posted a progress report. In my defense, itís been over 7 months since I worked on the One Design. It was a busy summer of flying, crashing, repairing, troubleshooting, etc. so Iíve just now got back to the shop.

When I left off, I had just finished the wings and had started loading up the fuselage with servos. I continued with the electronics by installing the throttle servo, Hitec Optima 9 receiver, Tech Aero Ultra IBEC and Fromeco Wolverine dual battery sharing and failsafe switch.

Next step was to cover the fuselage. I started by painting the cockpit before rolling out the Monokote. Iím relatively pleased with the way it came out, although the turtledeck is not as uniform as it could have been. I ended up with some flat spots between the stringers.

With everything covered, glued the hinges for the elevator and rudder, then installed the tail servos. I hope to get the tail controls installed tonight and then the tail brace wires.

Itís great to be back in the shop again!!!

Re: IMAC DR-107 One Design Build

Looks great Ken!
Those colours are similar to my H9 Sukhoi, the most visible aircraft Iíve ever flown. You will be happy with your choice!
You are motivating me to get my butt back in my shop and finish up some projects!
2019 IMAC season should be a ton of fun!
Iím looking forward to seeing everyone in 2019!

Re: IMAC DR-107 One Design Build

That wasnít a coincidence. After watching a certain H9 Sukhoi at the Stampede IMAC last year, I was sold. It was definitely the most visible machine in the air... I even bought a new orange Toyota Tacoma to match it.🤣

Elevator and rudder controls are hooked up. However, they look almost comically large on the tail. Granted, this is the first time Iíve built a plane with external tail servos!
