We just were notified yesterday so hope to use the quarantine to finally make a dent in the build room and finish some projects. The Waco has been idle for far too long.

Re: Anybody building while stuck at home?

Going to try my first foam board airplane, with that in mind is there a trick when making a " A " or " B " fold to getting that little peice of foam out I'm either cutting too deep or not deep enuf. Can't seam to get it right, foam does not just pick out like they show on Flite Test.

Re: Anybody building while stuck at home?

Still at work, but on my days off I have kept busy building a new larger workbench. Also making daily progress on a long awaited 100cc gasser. In addition spending time to do much needed home reno's which will continue into spring/summer if we cant camp/golf etc. Pretty sure once our field is bare/dry we will be able to safely fly so fingers crossed. For all of you forced to stay home....or who have lost jobs I really feel for you. Its a challenging time for many and I pray for a swift end to it all.

Re: Anybody building while stuck at home?

Re powered my Extra 300 with a new Dle 120. Installed landing gear cuffs, new fuel tank and lines, new wheels, modified tail wheel, just waiting for the snow to melt.. still working so far, we will see what next week brings.

I'm off work until at least April 5th, so been staying busy catching up on some builds. Just finished paint on an ESM Hellcat and have a Top Flite P51 arf that's glassed and primed ready for paint.

Started on a 30cc GeeBee R2M. The other day. Fibreglass fuselage and foam wings. Will be a fun build. Since I’m deemed essential worker shop time is my calm and zen.

Re: Anybody building while stuck at home?

Some nice stuff going on. Making progress on the fuse here. Trying to make it light enough, but strong enough.
I'm not quarantined, nor working from home. I drive truck, so as long as the places I deal with stay open, I keep going.
And ya, I get the whole recharge thing some have mentioned. Need to calm myself down too, especially after twisting on one company last week, aka their stupidity in dealing with everything. And THEY are the ones sending employees home sick, but I'm a problem. hhhmmm. LOL
Stay healthy everybody. And keep the pics coming

Re: Anybody building while stuck at home?

Well I'm over 80 so stuck at home for the duration, just me, the balsa wood and glue. This winter we have been flying electrics indoor at a Soccer Dome here in Welland. The thought of rubber power became real for many of the guys using the area for flying electric, a great place for rubber power. I got in touch with Chairman John Marett and he sent some drawings of beginners models for our group to try. I got interested in "beginners indoor endurance" models and have been making them. #1 model , white weighed in at 6.4 g , talking to John he said "twice the weight it should be" Wow! So I built # 2-3-4-5. The white and red one weighs in at 4.5 g . What a trip that was . after banging into it several times and redoing parts I got it finished and hope we can get in to try it out before the season ends.

Guys if you want a challenge give it a try, cost for a scratch build is very little, buy a kit and it will cost you up to $100 Canadian, from the USA or UK. It takes very little room ( great for me now) and few tools. Rubber motors is another challenge but great fun. Seeing a model get two minutes in the air is awesome, can't imagine 5, 10 or more minutes for the professionals.

Just so you don't think I'm side tracked I have 4 RC fuel and 3 RC electrics ready for weather break! Sure hope to get out to the outdoor field soon too!

Stay Healthy ! Glenn 9343L

Re: Anybody building while stuck at home?

Load them up and get a flight in my shop Glenn. Would love a copy of the drawings if possible.
