It is all in post #1. The flight time isn't any better than yours but this is flying it pretty hard.

My father Chris has finished the Euro cockpit! The thin edges were stiffened up with some styrene plastic sheet glued under the foam. Last thing to do is work on the afterburner lights.

Extraordinary, as always! Currently doing my Venom cockpit and it pales in comparison- please send Chris over.

Re: Freewing Eurofighter 90mm upgraded to 8S Changesun 12 blade EDF

Sorry Tom, Chris is very busy! Looks like you are too in this building season.

We got the two Tri-color 70mm AB systems installed and wired today. The two boards are mounted in the cavity ahead of the TV rudder servo. Nice that they can handle 8S power so they were wired directly to the power connectors. The regular TV nozzles have 1/4" of foam that we removed from the ends to glue the rings to. To cover we found a couple Philadelphia cream cheese containers that were just the right size! They have a nice taper and will be lined with some foil tape much like our Mig 21 to reflect as much light as possible. Some paint still to go on the nozzle covers before gluing in place to the AB ring edges. Must also do some final trimming to get full unobstructed travel.

Re: Freewing Eurofighter 90mm upgraded to 8S Changesun 12 blade EDF

You guys do some amazing detail work. Interesting how you looped the wiring around the servo so there is no stress being put on the wires as the exhaust moves. My second Typhoon is coming along. Unfortunately one of the vector thrust balls was very loose in the housing moving fore and aft about 1/4 inch so rather than tear it out and replace it I decided to glue them in solid so this model will have no VT. I found a corrugated coffee cup that worked great to cover the gap from the fuselage to the end of the exhaust nozzles. The finishing details are coming along . Thanks to Dutkoski I decided to try and print my own decals on label paper which worked well. i still have to do the fuselage lettering and then seal them. .

Happy New Year

Marty

The camo scheme looks good Marty! It should also be easier to see in the air.
I think these nozzles can be made to fit.

The TV function is one of the best parts of the plane IMHO.

Re: Freewing Eurofighter 90mm upgraded to 8S Changesun 12 blade EDF

Thanks for the info on the replacement nozzles. Good to know for future models as it is a little late for this project. I have played around with the VT on my other Typhoon and found that there appeared to be not a lot of change in flying characteristics with changes in the VT throw. I found that the flying canards had more of an effect on the pitch and roll rate then the vector thrust. It will be interesting to see how this one flies in comparison without the VT.

Cheers
Marty

Re: Freewing Eurofighter 90mm upgraded to 8S Changesun 12 blade EDF

The TV really shines when doing flat spins. I think stock CG is a bit forward of optimum so the TV overcomes this with power on. I've had fixed canards on other planes that flew well but they both had TV (JAS29 and SU34). Both were sold due their low blade count fans and the sound they made.

Re: Freewing Eurofighter 90mm upgraded to 8S Changesun 12 blade EDF

AB nozzles done. The CG was moved about 3-4mm behind the markings on the wing even with the completed cockpit so I am pleased. Better having the lighting than add lead. We have the same type on the Mig21 and they look great even in sunlight.

Found an interesting picture. It appears to have one engine shut down looking at the rudder deflection.

Hello Eric

I should receive my Eurofighter v2 kit soon. I remember you mentioned in one of your posts that the manual CG is nose heavy. What CG would you recommend ? I will fly it without the weapons set to get more speed. Thanks
