Re: Glow Head Brotherhood

I only have two glow planes left in a fleet of 13, but I tell you they will always have a fond place in my heart. Despite the noise, slime etc I could still show up, bolt on a wing fuel up and fire it off in short order. Sure the years of learning to tune were painful....but so is figuring out gas/oil mix for gassers, or prop/esc/motor combos for an electric.

I enjoy plug/play electrics.....but I will always say glow is an awesome way to fly for cheap.

Re: Glow Head Brotherhood

A few years back, I discovered MVVS. They are awesome engines. They are still not well known, so they come up on ebay dirt cheap. I have a 40 that spins a prop faster than my 40 fsr, and a 46 that spins faster than the webra 50 that I have.

Re: Glow Head Brotherhood

The best glow plane I ever had was a Sig Kavalier with an TT.Pro .46 on the nose of it. Flew like a dream on wheels, home made floats and skis. Taught me to fly and entry level aerobatics. Cant believe that was 20 years ago.....sigh

I have an unopened kit in my shop and it will get built and fly on glow someday...

Re: Glow Head Brotherhood

I own a couple Os 46, a 55 and a FS 91 plus 1 ys.91 and a ys.110, incredible powerhouses. I just aquired a Magnum FS.30 that I cant wait to try in my TigerMoth.
Also have a SuperTiger .61, love it too. And what a smell glow fuel has.
Cheers
JP

Re: Glow Head Brotherhood

I was just reading a forum on Electric to glow conversions there are quite a few doing this. Glow engines will be around for a long long time.

Here's a glow engine you won't see at the field.
