Help Identify This Gasser

I picked up this large gas motor yesterday and I believe it is a Quadra, perhaps a 35 or a 42. I am not familiar with these so if you recognize the motor please let me know. Says Made in Canada on the lower casting.

Re: Help Identify This Gasser

It’s certainly a Quadra. My understanding is that there’s no reliable way of determining a 35-42 without measuring the bore of the cylinder. Iirc it’s around 40mm is a 41-42cc, and less for a 35 (35ish mm). You can take the muffler off and stick in a bit of wood to get the diameter. If you use a popsicle stick you can stick it in and then use the piston to make a mark for measuring. My experience is that style of muffler is more common to find on a 35 than a larger one.

Thanks. That muffler also seems to have been thinned and brazed back together so as to make it fit the firewall when the motor is bolted directly to the firewall.

Re: Help Identify This Gasser

Actually the first Quadra 35’s were manufactured at Trail,BC. Here is a link with some details 5at may help on the “Quadra “ line of motors. The prop adapter appears to be an aftermarket one as Zi have never seen one quite like it.
